Origin and evolution of gibberellin signaling and metabolism in plants

چکیده
Gibberellins modulate multiple aspects of plant behavior. The molecular mechanism by which these hormones are perceived and how this information is translated into transcriptional changes has been elucidated in vascular plants: gibberellins the nuclear receptor GID1, then interacts with DELLA proteins promote their degradation, resulting modification activity transcription factors DELLAs interact physically. However, several important questions still pending: does a single molecule perform such vast array functions along development? What property do add to behavior? A closer look at gibberellin action from an evolutionary perspective can help answer questions. conserved all land plants, predate emergence full metabolic pathway GID1 ancestor plants. origin signaling linked exaptation N-terminal domain DELLA, already acted as coactivator ancestral proteins. At least ability control growth seems be encoded protein too, suggesting that gibberellins’ functional diversity direct consequence activity. Finally, comparative network analysis suggests increases coordination responses, providing theoretical framework for role adaptation scale, further needs experimental testing.

Gibberellin metabolism and signaling.
Gibberellins (GAs) are a family of plant hormones controlling many aspects of plant growth and development including stem elongation, germination, and the transition from vegetative growth to flowering. Cloning of the genes encoding GA biosynthetic and inactivating enzymes has led to numerous insights into the developmental regulation of GA hormone accumulation that is subject to both positive ...

The plant hormone gibberellin (GA) regulates major aspects of plant growth and development. The role of GA in determining plant stature had major impacts on agriculture in the 1960s, and the development of semi-dwarf varieties that show altered GA responses contributed to a huge increase in grain yields during the 'green revolution'. The past decade has brought great progress in understanding t...

Gibberellins (GAs) are a large family of tetracyclic, diterpenoid plant hormones that induce a wide range of plant growth responses. It has been postulated that plants have two types of GA receptors, including soluble and membrane-bound forms. Recently, it was determined that the rice GIBBERELLIN INSENSITIVE DWARF1 (GID1) gene encodes an unknown protein with similarity to the hormone-sensitive ...

The hormone gibberellin (GA) plays an important role in modulating diverse processes throughout plant development. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the identification of upstream GA signaling components and trans- and cis-acting factors that regulate downstream GA-responsive genes in higher plants. GA appears to derepress its signaling pathway by inducing proteolysis of GA...
متن کاملGibberellin Signaling in Plants – The Extended Version
The plant hormone gibberellin (GA) controls major aspects of plant growth such as germination, elongation growth, flower development, and flowering time. In recent years, a number of studies have revealed less apparent roles for GA in a surprisingly broad set of developmental as well as cell biological processes. The identification of GA receptor proteins on the one end of the signaling cascade...
